We restart our Try Hockey for Free program again during the 2023-2024 season. These clinics will put boys and girls on the ice for the first time, and give them a chance to experience the game of hockey. Holding one of these events is a great way to grow your association.
The Host Site Must Provide:
- One Hour of Ice (Hosts may qualify for grants for ice time through our sponsor T&I Credit Union)
- Grassroots Promotion of Event
- Volunteers to Help On-Ice the Day of the Event
- High School/ Bantam, Midget age players to help with tutoring. Brand new skaters need 1 to 1 help getting started. (this is a good incentive for community service hours).
- Volunteers to Help with Walk-In Registration & Equipment Distribution the Day of the Event
- Positions needed are for check in, equipment check out, assistance to new parents with equipment, off- ice recruiter to answer parent questions about association and future programs. Recommended minimum is 20, based on 40 participants. (You can use on-ice help for equipment check out and assistance with getting gear on)
- Access to Rental Skates
- Post Program Event for Kids to Join Your Association
- We recommend a 4-week " learn to skate/play program" for participants to join priced at less than $100. Offer should be given to parents during the event.
MAHA Will Provide:
- Preplanning guidance & Information
- Gear for Use by Participants
- Jersey for Players to Keep
- On-Site Lead Event Coordinator
- Promotional Tools
- On-line Registration
- Sanctioning / Insurance Coverage
- Follow up Invitation to Join Your Association
Applications will be reviewed as we receive them. You will be notified once your date and time are confirmed.
